IMF’S 6TH REVIEW OF GRENADA’S HOMEGROWN STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT PROGRAMME NOW UNDERWAY

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA Thursday, March 16th, 2017: A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Ms. Nicole La Framboise, is currently in Grenada conducting the 6th and final Review of Grenada’s Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme.

The 6th Review covers the period July to December 2016.

Grenada entered into the three-year, IMF supported, Homegrown Structural Adjustment Programme in January 2014.  The main objectives of the Programme were:

  • To boost inclusive growth and job creation; and
  • To restore fiscal and debt sustainability.

Grenada has so far concluded five (5) successful reviews by the IMF.

Other partners participating in this Review include the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB); the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB); the World Bank; the European Union (EU); the Department for InternationalDevelopment (DIFID); and the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development/ Global Affairs Canada (DFATD.

The delegation is holding consultations with Government Officials and other stakeholders, including the Committee of Social Partners and the Homegrown Programme Monitoring Committee, to assess Grenada’s performance under the Programme; and macroeconomic developments generally.

The Mission will conclude with a Press Conference on Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017.
